Course overview

This short course is a reference guide for those who are progressing to becoming a Team Lead for teams of course creators and/or contractors. You will be led through the different elements of becoming a team lead, including selection and recruitment, retainment, training and what your own daily tasks should include. This course offers a comprehensive guide through the steps and considerations that you will need as a Team Leader.

Course description

As a team leader, your role has changed from one who builds courses to one who reviews these courses. This opportunity has been extended to you because we at Alison, feel you have the qualities that are important in becoming a mentor for new course creators and would be able to take up the challenge of reviewing courses. Good grammar, a good grasp of the English language, good syntax and of course the ability to stick to a schedule and create quality courses are what is required. These are the attributes that we are looking for in our teams and you have met the mark.

This course will take you through the general tasks included in your role as a team lead and the first steps include choosing your team, interviewing new contractors who have scored well in their assessments and recruiting them. Next, the different ways you will need to keep track of these new team members through Google sheets will be discussed. The course will take you through the daily tasks every team leader needs to consistently fulfil which includes sourcing courses from your Team Manager and using course guidelines to create the courses. This, along with some other requirements will help you work out the cost for each course. The capacity plan sheet will be explained, especially how to go about scheduling a course and how to keep in contact with both your contractors and your manager about scheduling issues or difficulties. The next bit of content covers making courses live and the processes behind the 'Go Live' date.

The final part of this Alison publishing course will take you through one of the most important parts of an Alison Team Lead role: the review process. You need to make sure that the final copy of the course you are reviewing is fit for public viewing. Spelling errors, missing videos and text boxes with placeholder text will be checked and edited. There is plenty of work to be done before a course starts the process of going live and it is your responsibility to make sure that these courses are set to the Alison standard. If you are well on your way to becoming an online course creator Team Lead with Alison, then this course is essential to get you up-and-running as quickly as possible.
