Warehouse workers play a key role in various sectors such as Retail, Manufacturing, Logistics and Transport businesses who all rely on warehousing services such as pick and pack, assembly, pick up, packaging, labelling, distribution etc. Warehousing and storage can be considered in terms of services for the production process and for product distribution. EU citizens account for low percentage of the industry's workforce however employers are concerned about what implications the UK leaving the EU may have on their business with regard to a shortage of skilled workers. It is vital to our economy that we can build a skilled and adequately trained workforce to ensure continuation of growth in the sector. There are benefits of working is a warehousing role;

This is a 4-day course (usually delivered over consecutive days), syllabus consists of 5 modules delivered over 4 days; Safe Moving & Handling (Objects), Safe Working at Height, Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Emergency First Aid at Work. The H&S and Fire Safety elements of the course are not part of an employer’s statutory obligations. COURSE CONTENT: DAY 1 SAFE MOVING & HANDLING (OBJECTS) This 1-day course is designed to highlight the problems associated with incorrect manual handling. It aims to identify the requirements to employees of the Manual Handling Operations 1992 and the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1992 (risk assessment). This course is to train you in the safest aspects of moving and handling in the work place and to understand the risks to yourself. There is a multiple-choice assessment at the end of the course. HSC Futures Certificate. DAY 2 – SAFE WORKING AT HEIGHT This module covers what can go wrong while working at heights, general requirements of Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, regulations and guidance relating to working at heights, means of access; ladders, stepladders and trestles, general access scaffolds, scaffold towers, suspended cradles, mast-elevated work platforms, power-operated work platforms, personal suspension of equipment, risk assessments/work planning/safe systems of work. HSC Futures Certificate. DAY 3 (AM) HEALTH & SAFETY This 3-hour course aimed give you an insight on general workplace health & safety. It will give you the knowledge you need to understand risks and how to control and act upon any likely hazards present in a workplace. It will give you an introduction to general workplace health & safety, roles and responsibilities for health, safety and welfare at work, risk assessments and how they contribute to health and safety, how to identify and control risks from common workplace hazards, processes and procedures for responding to accidents and incidents. There is a multiple-choice assessment at the end of the course. HSC Futures Certificate. DAY 3 (PM) FIRE SAFETY This 3-hour course ensures you have an understanding of fire safety. The course allows you to receive the necessary training in fire safety so you have the knowledge to act safely and responsibly should the need arise. It covers the nature of Fire, Fire hazards and risk, Fire Prevention at work, Local Fire procedures and How to select and use a portable fire extinguisher safely. There is a multiple-choice assessment at the end of the course. HSC Futures Certificate. DAY 4 EFAW This one-day module is an abbreviated First Aid Course covering the most important situations and injuries. The course covers roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider, assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR and AED use, Recovery Position, Choking, Seizures, Shock, Wounds and bleeding, Minor Injuries including cuts and grazes, minor burns and scalds. There is a set multiple choice examination (Qualsafe Awards) at the end of this session. Qualsafe Awards L3 EFAW Certificate QUALIFICATION GAINED: Other Awarding Body (QUALSAFE & HSC Futures Certificates) SCQF LEVEL: N/A ATTENDANCE: Short Course - Flexible start dates. There are various start dates, please contact the course provider for further information. DURATION: 4 Days COST: £200 plus VAT (£240).
