LEGO Renewables

Do you teach pupils from P6 to S2? Use LEGO© to deepen their understanding of wind or solar energy.

About LEGO© Renewables

Around 42,000 people work in renewable energy across Scotland. And as the country pushes towards net zero, there’ll be lots more job opportunities in this area.

LEGO© Renewables will give your pupils a taste of what it’s like to work as an engineer in the renewables industry. Plus, they'll get to build cool things with LEGO© – it’s a win-win!

So, what's involved?

Build a wind turbine to get your pupils’ cogs turning. During the activity, young people will act as engineers and learn about renewable energy. Then, we’ll help the class design and build a functional LEGO© wind turbine.

Create the most renewable energy. Once everyone’s happy with their wind turbine, we’ll test them to see how much energy they produce.

Check out exciting careers. We’ll show off My World of Work’s job profiles and industry pages to inspire your class. Maybe they can use their new skills to build a career!

We enjoyed the open-ended nature of the building challenge. It followed the engineering design process and the pupils used proper scientific equipment to measure success.Secondary school teacher
